Each year, Chesapeake Charities hosts an annual Celebration of Charity honoring exceptional volunteers, philanthropists, advocates and nonprofits in the Chesapeake Bay region who have had a profound impact on the community. This year’s Celebration of Charity awards luncheon will honor the most effective leaders and innovators in the Maryland Tourism industry:

Richard Meehan, Mayor of Ocean City, Advocate of the Year
Mayor Rick Meehan’s dedication to boosting tourism, supporting local businesses, and ensuring a welcoming environment for millions of visitors has made Ocean City the #1 tourist attraction in Maryland.
Michael Rosato, Artist, Innovator of the Year
Michael Rosato’s artwork inspires tourists from around the country to visit the eastern shore. His mural “Take My Hand,” highlighting the heroine Harriett Tubman, has received international acclaim.
Leonardtown Business Association, Nonprofit of the Year
The Leonardtown Business Association (LBA) is a prime example of how a group of committed entrepreneurs can increase restaurant and retail spending by building a vibrant community that attracts new residents, businesses, and tourists.
